Calamancina – beach bonfires & van life idyll
December 12, 2016 by Louise in van life

Van life in San Vito, Sicily, has been the best place yet. Wild camp metres from the ocean, yet sheltered from the wind beneath the Calamancina cliffs. Walk 20m and you’ve hundreds of routes to choose from to climb. Walk 20m in the other direction and go for a  swim after a day’s climbing. Fill up your water tank in Macari (smile at the lady who lives across from the fountain, she might give you a bag of home-grown oranges and lemons! Available 07am – 5.30pm). Get your local food from the Friday morning market (try the khakis), and fresh bread, straight from the oven, from Piacentino. Do your laundry at the Climbing House apartments near Calamancina for 5 Euros a machine. Get rid of your chemical waste at El Bahira campsite. There is everything you could possibly need here – come see for yourself!
