Donegal greeted us with blue skies and sunshine and we were treated to the “best day of the year” according to locals. First stop was Muckros Head, just south of Kilcar. Steep, rough sandstone with stunning views of the Atlantic. If you like pumpy overhanging routes, this is the place for you. Day two in Donegal was spent on the infamous Sail Rock multipitch route on the choss of Slieve League, Ireland’s highest cliffs and a great place to go to watch the sun set & eat tasty local ice cream. On Sail Rock, we recommend the E2 route directly up the face instead of scrambly VS along the ridge.
