Connemara National Park is a must-see if exploring the West Coast of Ireland but be warned: even in August there are midgies about! We arrived hoping to climb Carrot Ridge on Ben Corr but awoke to drizzle, midgies and the ridge thick in mist – not optimal conditions for a 360m multipitch… so we sat tight and ate caramel digestives and drank tea instead. Lovely lakes in Connemara!
